That’s so 2019

As the year draws to a close, I can’t help but have a feeling that’s equal parts nostalgia, thankfulness, and the overwhelming desire to nap through Q1 2020. This year, I experienced some opportunities that I never thought would come my way. I got to work with people and bands who I heard on the radio as a 4-year-old in the back of my mom’s 1997 Nissan Sentra. I also got to partner with new and up-and-coming artists, some of whom have become my closest friends. And together with colleagues and a community of supportive friends and family, we created and produced a non-profit music festival, Difftober which will be returning for a second year in the fall of 2020.

From these new opportunities, 2019 also brought change – personally and professionally. As new bookings came in, I gained a fresh perspective on how to hone skills and scale a business. This included knowing when and where to ask for help. Earlier this year, I welcomed my first manager – who also supports me as my booking agent. As the portfolio grew, Twelfth & James became our parent holding company to bring new resources to the table.

It was a whirlwind, but the best year yet. Thank you all for the support in 2019 and beyond.

Can’t wait to see what the new year holds!

Cheers,
Joel
